Dog Ownership: A Probable Cause Of Blindness

7
Blindness can be characterized as a state wherein one cannot fully utilize his sense of sight, rendering him to not be able to see clearly or fully. But we're not talking about this kind of blindness in this article, for the blindness we are going to talk about here is the psychological blindness dog owners, breeders, and trainers alike can be afflicted with regards in how they view their dogs.

Kennel Blindness

While most of us probably have attended dog contests, we might have actually seen people afflicted with the first classification of Dog Owner Blindness, the Kennel Blindness.

This type of blindness is can be observed from those people who get unjustly judgmental when talking about dogs. When you involve in a conversation with one that's inflicted with this blindness, they'll always pose an environment where they will always talk about how superior or greater their dogs are compared to other dogs.

When they do participate in the competition and lost, they'll always have an excuse that they were cheated, or the judges have no standards, and the like. You'll never hear them praising your dog, it will always be about theirs!

As for the breeders that are afflicted with this blindness, they'll exhaust themselves in the process of convincing others that their breeding program is superior only to misinterpret that there are breeding standards to follow for every dog.

While being blind is something to feel sorry for others about, this next type of blindness is something you'll feel very different about.

Breed Blindness

Some people like to make dogs as an extension of their personality. While some may opt for Toy dogs to signify their indoor-preference, some may also choose strong and agile dogs to boost their owners manliness.

This is the case for Breed Blindness where it makes owners believe that the breed they've chosen is the best breed in the universe, heck even multiverse according to someone I need not mention.

They'll try so hard in recommending their breed to anyone they engage a conversation with no regards to the person's preference and situation, which are the factors to consider in choosing a breed of the dog.

From my observation so far, this blindness is prevalent with dog owners that are just starting out who always try to pit their dog's breed and trait with other breeds and ask others on their opinion at it. Personally, I do think this is a sad attempt for social approval and distinction.

No breed is suitable for every scenario and each has its own function, that's what every person suffering from this blindness should know.

Remedy and Treatment

While there's no permanent cure to blindness for humans, surely there wouldn't be one too for these types of blindness.

But I do think when people, who are afflicted with these Blindness, gets to be matched with a person knowledgeable enough to stand their ground, they're surely have a taste of their own medicine, which will make them think of the futile things they're saying.

We should always remember then that no dog is perfect for every situation, each has its own purpose in this world and there is no best, for they are all one.

Oh wait... I think I'm infected!

Kidding aside though, the best article I've read so far. Not only that I've experience it myself, but it opened me to the idea that not only me have experience about it and that it's indeed possible.
